Sara Marie Svensson was born in Vaggeryd, Sweden, part of the Swedish bible belt, on April 7, 1977. She graduated high school with a nursing degree and worked with disadvantaged children before meeting pastor Åsa Waldau and deciding to go to Bible school in Knutby, Sweden. She began attending the Knutby Church in October 1999, a Pentecostal church with some progressive doctrines. Her task was to pray for others or “intercede” on their behalf. Here, she met the congregation’s second pastor, Helge Fossmo.

Helge Arnold Fossmo was born on July 27, 1971, in Kristinehamn, Sweden. The youngest of five children, his parents were originally from Norway. Fossmo was ‘saved’ at 12 after joining the Mission Covenant Church of Sweden youth group, even though his family was not religious. Fossmo met his future wife, Helene, in 1988, when he was 17 years old and working at a café for a Christian youth organization. He found time to become a youth pastor while getting a science education degree.

He was captivated as soon as Fossmo laid eyes on Pastor Åsa Waldau in 1993. She remembered him commenting that it was the first time he’d ever paid attention to what a lady had to say. When she was preaching at his church, they…
